Communications Intern (Publications)

Purpose of internship

To support the Outreach team on a range of communication and outreach activities, CEEW invites internship applications from communication students. The tasks include, but are not limited to, finalise CEEW’s branding style guide/ manual, make case studies of trending ideas on language usage, publications, design, producing and proofing publications, developing communication style guides, studying contemporary communication and data visualisation trends and producing communication collaterals to specific briefs. 

The internship needs candidates with

  • Above-average English language skills
  • A strong design sense
  • An eye for data visualisation and infographic making
  • The ability to research and digest best-of-class communication ideas as well as the ability to liaison with third-party vendors
  • Some basic design, photography and video making skills.

The candidate should be solution-oriented, detail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Deliverables and responsibilities

Deliverables

  • Help create and finalise CEEW’s branding style guide/ manual.
  • Make case studies of trending ideas in publications: language usage, design, data visualisation.
  • Finalise the CEEW publications inventory.
  • Track communication/branding strategies of other organisations in the sector.

Other responsibilities

  • Support the Communications Specialist in producing research publications as per the SOPs.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors (designers, data visualisers, printers, photographers/videographers) to ensure communication collaterals are produced within given timelines and all requirements are communicated to the vendors in a timely manner.
  • Brainstorm to come up with creative data visualisation ideas and work towards executing these.
  • Provide on-ground support during CEEW events.

Qualifications

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or marketing.

Work experience and other skills

  • 0-1 years’ experience in producing communication pieces, magazines, writing and proofing.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Excellent grasp of the English language 
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
