Communications Specialist/ Associate (Depending on work experience)

Job Location New Delhi, India

Reporting to Strategic Communications Lead


CEEW seeks to hire a Communications Specialist/Communications Associate, a role that will be crucial to showcase the vast range of research that CEEW undertakes to wide constituency, comprising government, industry, civil society, media, and public at large. The individual must specialise in media engagement, content writing, and digital communications. She/he should have prior experience of publishing or getting content published on a regular basis in national and international media outlets.

She/he will also have exceptional written communication and networking skills. An individual with a pulse on the media and an eye for identifying appropriate story angles will succeed in this role.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Managing and strengthening CEEW's media engagement and digital presence
  • Working closely with Strategic Communications Lead to design an effective media strategy for the organisation and for each CEEW focus area
  • Supporting the CEO and other senior researchers to respond to inquiries from print, electronic and digital media. Also assisting researchers publish op-eds in mainstream media
  • Designing and implementing a strategy to draw attention of international media outlets/journalists to CEEW research
  • Developing strategies to nurture deep relationships with the print and electronic media within and outside India
  • Building partnerships with various media organisations to publicise CEEW research
  • Maintaining and updating the CEEW media database
  • Writing news releases, statements, key messages, blog posts, external communications, brochures, media kits, bios, etc.
  • Supporting the Strategic Communications Lead on special projects
  • Developing a blog strategy for CEEW. Updating the CEEW blog on a regular basis
  • Ensuring strict adherence to CEEW branding guidelines
  • Significant public interfacing on behalf of CEEW

Other Responsibilities

  • Supporting and providing inputs to enhance CEEW’s social media presence
  • Supporting the dissemination of CEEW e-newsletters bi-monthly/ every quarter
  • Coordinating with various vendors including designers, copyeditors, translators, etc.
  • Working with the Communications Associate (Events) to organise and publicise conferences, workshops, roundtables, public discussions, and media briefings
  • Supporting the creation of snackable video content

Crucially, in addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined above, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities and respond to events and developments that cannot be anticipated easily

Selection Criteria


  • Preferably Master’s or higher degree in Business Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Business.

Work experience

  • Minimum 18 months of experience in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Business Communications or Journalism would be preferred.
  • Prior experience in a media organisation/ development sector organisation/ PR organisation will be an advantage
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality written content, including press releases and stories for the web
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with traditional, digital and emerging communications platforms.

Key skills

  • Strong networking capabilities and established contacts with senior journalists
  • Exceptional verbal, presentation and business/science writing skills and demonstrated ability to calibrate communications to resonate with internal and external target audiences
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills suitable for collaborating with multiple stakeholders
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box ideas
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Photography, videography and editing skills desirable
