Location: New Delhi, India (Frequent travel to project sites)


CEEW seeks to hire an ambitious and diligent individual who would be keen to work in the area of innovation to impact. As part of the Renewable Energy team at The Council, the individual would be involved in supporting various electricity distribution companies across states to test and implement innovative distributed renewable energy business models and policies, with an aim to scale up the share of the RE technologies in India’s electricity mix.

The role would entail engagement with multiple stakeholders of the Indian electricity distribution ecosystem, viz. distribution companies, state and central governments, regulatory commissions, state nodal agencies, residents’ associations, local bodies, and residential consumers. Candidate must possess very strong project management skills, strong communication skills, analytical abilities, significant bias towards action, and a zeal to learn and create impact. Familiarity with designing and implementing pilot projects and their monitoring and evaluation would be highly useful.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the applicant should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities and respond to events and developments that cannot be anticipated easily.

Job Duties and Accountabilities:

Project Management

  • Manage the implementation of pilot projects proposed by the research team based on CEEW’s on-going work
  • Work with the research team to identify implementation challenges and design pilots that are feasible for the target stakeholders
  • Manage project deliverables and resources within time
  • Prepare detailed project plans and DPRs for upcoming pilots
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth and timely implementation of the pilot activities
  • Work closely with the research teams to plan and execute monitoring and evaluation activities and other impact assessments planned alongside


  • Plan and execute events, meetings, and other stakeholder engagement activities for the successful implementation of pilots
  • Effectively engage and communicate project objectives and benefits to relevant stakeholders such as government officials, distribution companies, regulatory bodies and community members for their buy-in and approvals
  • Assist with CEEW communication activities, including preparing presentations, factsheets and other communication material
  • Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community


  • Travel to project sites, whenever necessary, to conduct meetings/interviews/trainings or collect primary information.
  • To write briefs and issue notes which could be circulated among senior Government of India officials and other stakeholders.
  • To work with senior researchers on conceptualising new projects (as and when needed).
  • Write memos and internal briefs independently.

Selection Criteria


  • Strong academic credentials, preferably a Master’s degree in management, communication, events or other relevant fields
  • Sound understanding of India’s electricity sector (specifically solar and wind markets) and policy and regulatory environment is preferred

Business Experience

  • At least three-four years of relevant work experience in the field of project implementation, policy engagement, and project management, preferably in the area of energy policy, renewable energy, or power sector.
  • Prior experience in engaging with government agencies and distribution companies or experience working with grassroot organisations
