Purpose

CEEW is seeking young, bright, and passionate candidates with some experience in community engagement, for the position of 'Consultant – Field Research in Lucknow'. You are expected to support the organisation in gathering on-ground information on day to day emission activities, engagement with relevant stakeholders such as citizens, government officials in targeted areas of Lucknow district. CEEW researchers will provide the necessary training required to meet the objectives. An ideal candidate for the position is a street-smart, self - driven, and outgoing professional with some experience in conducting surveys and capacity-building activities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Daily inspection of on-ground emission activities such as waste burning, vehicle congestion, industrial clusters, brick kilns, eateries, etc within the city
  • Identification and collection of geo-tagged information of all the emission activities happening within the city
  • Delivering onto daily and weekly tasks set by CEEW researchers
  • Engaging with citizens on day to day basis to understand their concerns regarding air pollution
  • Measuring the impact of the intervention on combating air pollution through interviews and interactions with the government stakeholders and local citizens
  • Documenting the progress and sharing details with CEEW researchers
  • Accompany the CEEW team members for meetings with other stakeholders and assist with relevant follow up.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with specialisation in Environmental Science, Engineering, Policy or related programmes.
  • A fair understanding of air quality management in the Indian context is must
  • Good written and oral communication skills – English and Hindi
  • Having own two-wheeler is mandatory
  • Experience in data collection and dealing with stakeholders (farmers, grassroot workers, government etc.) preferred
  • Experience in handling devices like air quality sensors preferred
  • Willingness to conduct frequent field visits/meetings with stakeholder
  • Ability to adapt and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
  • Ability and willingness to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
