Research Analyst

CEEW seeks to hire a Research Analyst primarily for its water programme. The Research Analyst will have to do primary and secondary data collection, sorting and analysis. The work might require frequent field visits and coordination with various stakeholders. Candidates with water science/agriculture/water policy background are encouraged to apply for this position.

Job Duties and Accountabilities


  • To perform primary and secondary data collection and analysis.
  • Analyse water management intervention across India and worldwide.
  • Develop maps on based on data on different water related issues.
  • To participate in relevant conferences, workshops, training programmes for comprehensive understanding of the water sector.
  • To assist team to work on multi-disciplinary projects, proposal writing and project development
  • To work on hydrological models or tools such as SWAT, HECHMS, MODFLOW and ARCGIS.
  • To analyse data using tools like MS Excel, STATA, R etc.
  • To conduct field surveys: questionnaire designing, coordinating with field staffs

Project/programme assistance

  • Assist with project implementation, including help with preparing presentations and advocacy material.
  • Assist with building a database of a wider community of experts, scholars, institutions and potential donors in the energy, environment and water domains.
  • Assist with conceptualising and developing a public outreach and youth involvement strategy for CEEW.
  • Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.
  • Assist with preparing regular updates and emails for distribution.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and assist with preparing minutes.
  • Accompany the CEO and other team members for meetings with other stakeholders; prepare minutes of the meetings and assist with relevant follow up.

Shortlisting Criteria

Education and experience

  • Master’s degree with specialisation in Water Resources Management, Agriculture or related programmes.
  • Understanding of water quality and related technologies, and hydrology preferable.
  • Experience in dealing with numbers and data desirable.
  • Minimum one-year research experience of conducting desk-top research/field-based study/surveys etc.
  • A fair understanding of water policy in the Indian context.

Key skills

  • Must have strong research skills.
  • Willingness to conduct frequent field visits/meetings with stakeholder
  • Willingness to work on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with software programmes such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and spatial analysis tool like ArcGIS, QGIS etc. is a must
  • Experience in using hydrological models like SWAT, HECHMS, MODFLOW, WEAP etc. is a plus
  • Experience in data collection preferre
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders (farmers, grassroot workers, government etc.) preferred.
