Job Summary

CEEW is seeking young, bright, and passionate candidates with some experience in community engagement, for the position of ‘Research Intern – Field Research in Punjab’. You are expected to support the organisation in understanding various crop residue management alternatives, engagement with relevant stakeholders such as farmers’, farmers’ cooperative societies, KVKs, state agricultural officers, Pollution Control Board officers, policy experts, academicians across Punjab. CEEW researchers will provide the necessary training required to meet the objectives. An ideal candidate for the position is a street-smart, self - driven, and outgoing professional with some experience in conducting surveys and capacity-building activities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To engage with relevant stakeholders like Farmers’ Cooperative Societies, KVKs, State Agricultural Officers, Pollution Control Board officers, policy experts, academicians
  • To understand various crop residue management alternatives in lien with the prevailing agricultural issues in India (with focus on Punjab)
  • To constantly track policy measures taken by the government and its implementation status related to crop residue management and air pollution
  • To carry out relevant literature review and summarize findings as reports
  • Delivering onto daily and weekly tasks set by CEEW researchers
  • To participate in relevant conferences, workshops, training programmes for comprehensive understanding of the crop residue management.

Shortlisting Criteria and key skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with specialisation in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy or related programmes.
  • A fair understanding of various agricultural practices and issues in the Indian context is must
  • Hindi proficiency essential. Punjabi languages preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively in Punjab and Haryana to conduct frequent field visits/meetings with stakeholders.
  • Must have strong research skills – capability to conduct interviews, collect primary survey is a key requisite.
  • Ability to adapt and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
  • Ability and willingness to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
