Communications Associate/ Consultant

Job Location: New Delhi, India (Flexible)

Reporting to: Communications Specialist

Duration: 12 months (extendable basis mutual agreement) for a Communications Associate/3 months (extendable basis mutual agreement) for a Communications Consultant

Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a Communications Associate/Consultant with exceptional writing and editing skills to join the Outreach team. The role will be crucial to showcase the vast range of research that CEEW undertakes to a wide constituency—comprising government, industry, civil society, media, and the public at large. The candidate will get exposure to the inner workings of one of India’s leading think tanks and will have the opportunity to understand the stakeholders that play a key role in the energy and environment space.
The candidate will support the Comms Specialist on a range of tasks such as media, events, partnerships. The individual must have experience in media engagement and content writing or should have worked at a leading media outlet. An ideal candidate should have prior experience in scientific writing. The candidate should be well versed with the writing styles of leading international publications such as the Financial Times, Economist, The New York Times, Guardian, Atlantic, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, etc. The candidate should be detail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines.
 
In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

  • Support the Communications Specialist to manage and strengthen CEEW's media engagements.
  • Support the CEO and other senior researchers to respond to inquiries from print, electronic and digital media.
  • Support the team in designing and implementing a strategy to draw attention of international media outlets/journalists to CEEW research.
  • Work closely with the team to develop strategies to nurture deep relationships with the print and electronic media within and outside India.
  • Write/edit opinion pieces, blog posts, newsletters, webpages, press releases, emailers, film scripts, and other communication material.
  • Develop interesting story/content ideas for different mediums and readers.
  • Contribute to writing/editing blog pieces.
  • Work with the Communications Specialist to organise and publicise conferences, workshops, roundtables, public discussions, and media briefings.
  • Support the Communications Specialist to manage and strengthen strategic partnerships.
  • Ensure strict adherence to CEEW branding guidelines.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with various vendors including designers, copyeditors, translators, etc.
  • Support the Communications Associate (digital) in creation and dissemination of CEEW e-newsletters bi-monthly/every quarter.
  • Explore emerging formats, platforms and mediums for CEEW to publicise its research.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications

  • Preferably Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or any related fields.

Work experience and other skills

  • 1-3 years’ experience. Freshers with exceptional writing and storytelling skills may apply (writing samples will be required).
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality written content for different mediums.
  • Exceptional business/science writing skills and demonstrated ability to calibrate communications to resonate with internal and external target audiences.
  • Prior experience in a media organisation/development sector organisation/PR organisation will be an advantage.
  • Prior experience in organising and managing events will be an advantage.
  • Excellent grasp of English language.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.

Preference will be given to those who can work full-time.
