CEEW seeks to hire a Communications Consultant with exceptional project management and media engagement skills to join the Outreach team. The role will be crucial to further raise the bar of CEEW’s events and media outreach. It will showcase the vast range of research that CEEW undertakes to a wide constituency—comprising government, industry, civil society, media, and the public at large. The candidate will get exposure to the inner workings of one of India’s leading think tanks and will have the opportunity to understand the stakeholders that play a key role in the energy and environment space.

The candidate must have experience in organising large-scale events and media engagement. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities and should be detail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Job Duties and Accountabilities


  • Work closely with the Communications Associate to design and deliver high-impact events for CEEW.
  • Plan, schedule, manage, organise and publicise conferences, workshops, roundtables, public discussions, and media briefings (virtual and on-ground)
  • Work with research teams to determine event budgets and manage expenses to that budget
  • Identify and liaise with event agencies, hotels, designers, multimedia specialists, and other vendors with support from the team.
  • In charge of all event-related branding and logistics such as event invitations, backdrops, conference badges, seating plans, room layouts, etc.
  • Ensure strict adherence to CEEW branding guidelines.


  • Manage and strengthen CEEW's media engagements in consultation with the Communications Specialist and Strategic Communications Lead.
  • Design and implement a strategy to draw the attention of international media outlets/journalists to CEEW research.
  • Work closely with the Communications Specialist, Communications Associate and partners to develop strategies to nurture deep relationships with the print and electronic media within and outside India.
  • Identify and ensure timely announcements at topical moments such as key policy announcements, topical days, sectoral developments, etc.
  • Support other members of the outreach team in editing/reviewing opinion pieces and press releases, and other communication material.
  • Develop interesting story/content ideas for different mediums and readers.
  • Support the CEO and other senior researchers to respond to inquiries from print, electronic and digital media.

Additional responsibilities

  • Mentor the Communications Associate and outreach interns as and when required.
  • Support other members of the outreach team in the creation and dissemination of CEEW e-newsletters bi-monthly/every quarter.
  • Explore emerging formats, platforms and mediums for CEEW to publicise its research.

Selection Criteria


  • Preferably Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or any related fields.

Experience and Other Skills

  • 3-5 years’ experience
  • Prior experience in organising and managing events and media engagement. Strong media connections with regional, national and international media would be a plus.
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality written content for different mediums.
  • Prior experience in a media organisation/development sector organisation/PR organisation will be an advantage.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent grasp of English language. 
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.
