Purpose

As a member of CEEW’s Outreach team, the candidate will be responsible for delivering well-designed CEEW publications and special publications such as handbooks, brochures, and coffee table books. They will manage a range of publishing activities, including, but not limited to, managing the publication process, timelines, quality checks and liaising with internal stakeholders (research teams) and empanelled vendors (editors, designers, and printers). They will also be expected to research current design trends and publication best practices and use design thinking to create easy-to-understand information pieces.

An ideal candidate should possess excellent writing, editorial, and design management skills and have an interest in and knowledge of publishing, especially research and policy-oriented publications. The candidate should also be detail-oriented, solution-oriented, and committed to timelines.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as and when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Senior Communications Associate in the day-to-day managing of all the stages of CEEW's research publication per existing SoPs.
  • Manage and own all milestones of the CEEW publication process to deliver publications and related infographics per project.
  • Coordinate with vendors (designers, data visualisers, printers, photographers/videographers) to ensure communication collaterals are produced within given timelines and all requirements are communicated to the vendors in a timely manner.
  • Conceptualise and develop (with designers) clear and engaging infographics to showcase data in print and on social media.
  • Follow and periodically improve the organisation's branding style guide to represent best practices.

Other responsibilities

  • Adopt trending ideas on language usage, design language, and successful branding of outreach materials and channels organisations use across sectors.
  • Study contemporary communication and data visualisation trends and produce communication collaterals for specific briefs.
  • Make case studies of trending ideas on language usage, design, and successful branding case studies.
  • Manage and update the CEEW publications inventory.
  • Provide on-ground support during CEEW events.
  • Support the Senior Communications Associate/Specialist on special projects to mainstream dialogue on sustainability.

Requirements and Qualifications

Education

  • Master's/Bachelor's/PG degree/Diploma in Design, Communications, Publishing or any related fields preferred.

Work experience and other skills

  • 1-3 years experience in creating or managing publishing, illustrations, design production, photography, or a similar role is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/deliver visually appealing layouts and designs in a timely manner.
  • Familiarity with researching design trends and communication best practices.
  • Creative mindset with a keen eye for design aesthetics and innovation.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom, Illustrator), Canva, and other design tools, would be an added plus.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, eye for detail and project management abilities.
  • Excellent grasp of the English language.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
