Job Location: New Delhi, India (flexible)

Reporting to: Strategic Communications Lead/Communications Specialist

Duration: 12 months (extendable basis mutual agreement)


CEEW seeks to hire a consultant with exceptional writing and editing skills to join the Outreach team. The candidate will get exposure to the inner workings of one of India’s leading think tanks and will have the opportunity to understand the stakeholders that play a key role in the energy and environment space.

An ideal candidate should have prior experience in scientific writing or should have worked at a leading media outlet. The candidate should be well versed with the writing styles of leading international publications such as the Financial Times, Economist, The New York Times, Guardian, Atlantic, The Hindu, Hindustan Times, etc. The candidate should be detail-oriented and committed to adhering to timelines.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

  • Write/edit opinion pieces, blog posts, and other communication material.
  • Understand research reports and analysis to identify news-worthy material and draft press releases for easy consumption by the media.
  • Convert research reports and analysis into easily consumable content such as scripts for films and short videos.
  • Support the digital lead on drafting content for newsletters, emailers, and other web-based communication.
  • Develop interesting story/content ideas for different mediums and readers.
  • Develop a blog strategy for CEEW and manage the CEEW blog. This includes writing/editing blog pieces and ensuring a regular flow of content.
  • Support the creation and dissemination of CEEW e-newsletters bi-monthly/every quarter.
  • Ensure the quality of content is maintained as per CEEW standards across different content products.
  • Ensure strict adherence to CEEW branding guidelines.

Additional responsibilities

  • Support the Communications Specialist in managing and strengthening CEEW's media engagement.
  • Support the CEO and other senior researchers to respond to inquiries from print, electronic and digital media.
  • Support the Strategic Communications Lead on special projects.

Selection Criteria


  • Preferably Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or any related fields.

Work experience and other skills

  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience. Exceptional candidates with lesser experience can be considered (writing samples will be required).
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality written content for different mediums.
  • Exceptional business/science writing skills and demonstrated ability to calibrate communications to resonate with internal and external target audiences.
  • Excellent grasp of English language.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent eye for detail.
  • Creative thinker with demonstrated success in implementing out-of-the-box content ideas.
  • Demonstrated abilities to manage multiple priorities, projects and internal/external resources in a fast-paced environment, while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Strong drive and initiative, a self-starter.

Preference will be given to those who can work full-time.
