Designation offered Data Consultant – Power Sector

Duration 6 months

Location Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a data consultant who will work with the power team in supporting power distribution companies (discoms) in UP to analyse large volumes of data and undertake development and automation of data reporting. The candidate will primarily be responsible to assess and plug gaps in the reporting system, prepare a data reporting framework for the discom officials, streamline and automate the analysis and the reporting system, and produce granular and actionable analysis for the discom. The candidate will be required to work from Lucknow (UP).

Responsibilities and duties

  • Conduct review of the discom’s data management and reporting system and identify specific areas of improvement, including building a new reporting system.
  • Preparing a framework for analysing the discom’s billing dataset for more than 8 million consumers, having more than 2 billion monthly data points and generating daily/weekly/monthly reports for discom officials.
  • Assist in automation of the generation of daily reports for discom staff at all hierarchy levels to assess the performance of their respective jurisdictions
  • Assess the requirements of the discom officials and produce analysis on the discom billing dataset accordingly.
  • Produce compelling data reporting visuals, including geo-spatial maps, for the officials to simplify assessment of discom performance at different levels.

Shortlisting Criteria

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering with specialisation in data science
  • Hands-on experience of at least 2-3 years in handling large volumes of data and expertise in data cleaning, time-series analysis, geo-spatial analysis, data drilling, data visualisation and machine learning through platforms such as python

Main Skills

  • Must be able to automate data analysis through extraction from the input data source, and linking it to algorithms
  • Adept in preparing customisable reporting formats.
  • Having experience of working on multiple reporting and visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power-BI
  • Must be able to create interactive maps and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in both English and Hindi

Personality

  • Ability to adapt and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Ability to effectively drive the work independently with minimum assistance.
  • Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
