Purpose

The Engagement Lead (Low Carbon Pathways) will be responsible for ensuring that CEEW low carbon pathways work enjoys top of mind re-call with the government, industries and industry associations. S/he will be the one-point contact to internally champion research co-ordination and take the essence of research outcomes to the relevant government and industry stakeholders.  Project management for signature events is also a part of this role’s core purpose. Finally, as CEEW embarks on its next milestone journey and expands its presence, the role also involves shaping and driving other special initiatives for the low carbon pathways team.  

Key Responsibilities

Outreach

  • Leading CEEW’s low carbon pathways team’s outreach efforts with the Government – both at the Central and State level

  • Forging strong relationships with industries and industry associations to connect them with CEEW’s decarbonisation work and create win-win opportunities

  • Building awareness and understanding around all of CEEW’s low carbon pathways work and programmes

  • Drawing on existing decarbonisation research to ‘connect the dots’ to deliver on the ask from the government or associations; being mindful of setting feasible milestones (given the research nature of work) and earning stakeholder trust to build in realistic timelines

Research Co-ordination & Communication

  • Understanding, comprehending and synthesising from CEEW’s existing decarbonisation research studies
  • Creating concise summaries and snapshots that capture the key research insights and outcomes 
  • Developing policy briefs in response to urgent government requests
  • Showcasing the research messages in a manner that is easy to understand for the identified stakeholder and aligns with their objectives and needs

Special Initiatives

  • As the organisation is expanding, there may be other new/ special initiatives that arise and shaping, leading and implementing these new initiatives would also be a key aspect of the role. 

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Master’s degree with specialisation in business administration, law, journalism, public policy or related field
  • Should have a strong experience of stakeholder engagement, experience in government engagement would be preferred

Business experience

  • At least seven years of relevant work experience in the field of policy engagement and project management, preferably in the area of energy and environment policy, fossil fuels, renewable energy, climate policy
  • Strong track record of project assistance and timely delivery of outputs
  • Experience in dealing with public and private institutions

Main skills

  • Strong networking and business development skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to conduct public policy analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Good report writing skills
  • Ability to use MS Office application suite including MS Excel
  • Desirable: Experience in government engagement

  • Ability to adapt to new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
  • Patience and perseverance for building relationships with new partners and opening doors

Compensation

Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
