The Risks and Adaptation team seeks to hire a Field Assistant to expand its work in the area of environmental law, governance, and enforcement. CEEW offers an intellectually challenging and conducive work environment, with a focus on research rigour, innovative thinking, and consensus building. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly skilled, and detail-oriented researcher to join the air quality focus within the Risks and Adaptation Team. The Programme Associate would respond to developments in environment law and practice including deconstructing state actions and identifying factors that inhibit enforcement and support the advancement of research and policy engagement for improvement in air quality.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Project/programme assistance

  • Participate in training sessions organised by CEEW for training of consultants for sensor deployment, registration and quality assurance.
  • Work with the team of Field Assistants and under supervision of researchers at CEEW for planning deployment of air quality sensors and tracking sensor operation and malfunctions.
  • Detailed mapping of polluting sources in the vicinity of the sensors including geotagging locations of observation sources, clicking pictures, and maintaining location-specific notes
  • Delivering onto daily and weekly tasks set by CEEW researchers
  • Data entry and excel-based data logging

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in any field
  • Familiarity with the geography of the city
  • Beginner level proficiency with MS Office application Suite
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders (grassroots workers, government, etc.) preferred
  • Willingness to learn new (research and project management) skills
  • Ability to adapt to new environment and deliver under tight deadlines in a professional environment
  • Ability to dig deeper into details, while also keeping a sense of the broader objectives and big picture
  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at personal and professional front, at a rapid pace with a steep learning curve
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment
