Reporting to: Programme Lead, CEEW Centre for Energy Finance

Duration: 3 months

Location: New Delhi, India


The CEEW Centre for Energy Finance seeks to hire an Intern to support our market intelligence work with a focus on new technologies and develop an internal knowledge base in the clean energy sector. CEEW offers an intellectually challenging and conducive work environment, with a focus on research rigour, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our interdisciplinary team.

CEEW-CEF acts as a non-partisan market observer and driver that monitors, develops, tests, and deploys financial solutions to advance the energy transition. It aims to help deepen markets, increase transparency, and attract capital in the clean energy sectors of emerging economies. It achieves this by comprehensively tracking, interpreting, and responding to developments in the energy markets while also bridging gaps between governments, industry, and financiers. The successful applicant will assist in undertaking robust quantitative and qualitative analysis. In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the intern should be prepared to, as and when necessary, take on additional responsibilities and respond to events and developments that cannot be anticipated easily.

Job Duties and Accountabilities


Successful candidate is expected to assist members in the CEF team in the following:

  • Data collection and management from various sources. Bringing in intelligent data processing techniques must be an integral part of the data-driven work.
  • Responsible for reviewing large amounts of data and analysing the information using variety of software tools and methodologies.
  • Systematically and periodically maintain and append the current databases.
  • Track market developments in the energy and power sector in India.
  • Contribute to other teams’ research objectives to the extent that your skillset adds value to the output, on request or otherwise.

Programme Assistance

  • Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information.
  • Assist with building a database and relationships with a wider community of experts, scholars, institutions and potential donors in the energy, environment and water domains.
  • Assist with planning and executing events such as report launches, consultation workshops, round table discussions, etc.
  • Contribute to reports and other research products as part of the research team..
  • Participate constructively in weekly team meetings.

Shortlisting Criteria


  • A Bachelor’s degree/enrolled in or completed Master’s degree with specialisation in engineering, management, economics, statistics, public policy or related field.
  • Should have a data-driven mind-set, an analytical bent and the ability to continuously look for ways to streamline and optimise their work responsibilities.

Main Skills

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills, including quantitative research
  • Ability to do market research
  • Basic understanding of the energy and power sector in India
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Should possess attention to detail
  • Although not necessary, competency in Python/R/SQL is desirable
