Purpose

The IS team seeks to hire a highly committed intern to support the development of the green industrial policy framework. This role demands high-quality research to provide direction, support, and insights to policy planners and industry captains on green industrial policies. The candidates should have an active and self-directed interest in industrial economics, industrial policy instruments and sustainability topics. She/he should be able to carefully assess and synthesise major industrial policy frameworks in India and abroad, develop insights, articulate best practices, etc. The role offers an excellent opportunity to build and strengthen an emerging research area while collaborating with international experts.

The candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make detailed presentations to various stakeholders and write informative reports in technical English. The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities, be detail-oriented, and be committed to adhering to timelines.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

  • Build data resources through active desktop research, intelligent web-scraping, and/or primary means, etc.
  • Drive the tracking of important policy developments in this topic.
  • Support the team’s policy engagements with central and state government departments through research and data analysis and by preparing reports and presentations.
  • Write high-quality first drafts of reports and analyses for internal and external circulation.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and relevant convening, including policy and technical exchanges among government officials, R&D facilities, subject experts, etc.

Selection Criteria

Qualification

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in economics, industrial economics, public policy, political science, and other relevant disciplines.
  • Knowledge of the industrial landscape in India and abroad is a plus point.
  • Experience and expertise in creating techno-economic models using Excel and other statistical software packages is a plus point.

Key Skill

  • Strong analytic skills, including qualitative research methods and tools that are fit for purpose.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong project management skills. Confidence to handle tasks and engage with internal stakeholders independently would be highly preferred.
  • Ability to conduct techno-economic analysis, cost & benefit analysis, and sound knowledge of basic economic principles.
  • CEEW operates in a dynamic environment, and the candidate must show flexibility in various tasks.

  • Two interviews with IS team members.
