Purpose

The IS team seeks to hire an intern to develop a framework to evaluate the political economy related to industrial decarbonisation in India. This role requires identifying specific and nuanced metrics to map interests, willingness to change and capabilities of key stakeholder groups relevant to the transition. The candidates should have an active and self-directed interest in political assessment, industrial policy, and decarbonisation solutions. The role offers an excellent opportunity to build and strengthen an emerging research area while collaborating with Indian and international experts.

The candidates should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make detailed presentations to various stakeholders and write informative reports in technical English. The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work across teams and manage multiple priorities, be detail-oriented, and be committed to adhering to timelines.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

  • Synthesize existing literature on political economy assessment frameworks.
  • Identify relevant experts in the field, pursue outreach and conduct interviews.
  • Develop a customised political economy assessment framework to be used by the industrial sustainability team in future research.
  • Build data resources through active desktop research, intelligent web-scraping, and/or primary means, etc., for several analytical requirements.
  • Write high-quality first drafts of reports and analyses for internal and external circulation.

Selection Criteria

Qualification

  • Graduate or post-graduate degree in political science, international relations, economics, industrial economics, public policy, and other relevant disciplines.
  • Knowledge of the energy landscape in India across various sectors and the policy techniques that can be leveraged to bring about change is a plus point.

Key Skill

  • Strong analytic skills, including qualitative research methods and tools that are fit for purpose.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong project management skills. Confidence to handle tasks and engage with stakeholders single-handedly would be highly preferred.
  • CEEW operates in a dynamic environment, and the candidate must show flexibility in various tasks.

  • Two interviews with IS team members.
