Designation Offered Intern – Foresight Team

Reporting to Head – New Initiatives

Location New Delhi, India

Purpose

CEEW’s Foresight team comprises the CEO, the Head – New Initiatives, and research analysts to support the CEO. CEEW has an interdisciplinary policy research portfolio, and one of the main activities of the Foresight Team is to strategically connect the dots between seemingly siloed sectors or operational verticals to identify opportunities to develop new work areas or scale up existing projects. The Foresight Team works with all sectoral teams of CEEW and is the hub of its primary engagements with national and international governments, multilateral organisations, industry leaders and donors.

The work of the Foresight Team includes:

  • Day-to-day engagement with government and diplomatic officials, multilateral organisations, industry leadership and civil society for strategic consultations on global, national and sub-national policy matters, and to drive outreach of CEEW’s work;
  • Preparing policy notes, media articles and presentations based on CEEW’s work and secondary research for use during these consultations and various interactive sessions;
  • Supporting the CEO’s wide range of activities through efficient calendar and logistics management, preliminary conversations with internal and external stakeholders to clearly understand their requirement and ensure that inputs are received on time and in full; and
  • Undertaking strategic new initiatives to support CEEW’s work, which includes expanding the flagship brand Energy Horizons and its bouquet of offerings including the EH Leadership Dialogues, conferences, etc.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who would be excited to work on a diverse range of subjects and contribute to the dynamic work environment at CEEW.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

CEEW is seeking to hire an intern to support the work of the Foresight Team across its range of activities. Typical work would include:

  • Preparing briefing notes and minutes of meetings for the CEO’s engagements
  • Writing short policy-oriented memos based on CEEW’s research and preparing talking points for the CEO and other dignitaries, in consultation with the sectoral teams
  • Google-based calendar management, including the use of hashtags and intelligent data entry, managing logistics arrangements per checklists with the Admin/IT teams
  • Assist with planning and executing events such as consultation workshops and roundtables initiated by the Foresight Team (usually government activities), including emailing attendees and following up
  • Managing an archival system for articles and reports written and events attended by the CEO

In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined above, s/he should be prepared to take on additional responsibilities and respond to events and developments that cannot be anticipated easily.

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Master’s degree with specialisation in energy, environment and/or economics
  • Keen interest in India’s development pathways and the global conversation on climate change and sustainable development

Main Skills

  • >Attention to detail and a serious, responsible outlook about working directly with the CEO
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, within the team as well as with external audiences
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handling multiple parallel requests
  • Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic and fluid environment
  • Willingness to show initiative with unforeseen challenges
  • Excited by a multidisciplinary role dealing with India’s macroeconomic debate
