Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a research intern to assist the Air Quality team in its ongoing research on assessing local air quality impact of construction activities. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in carrying out analyses and communications of the analyses with the internal and external partners. The intern will be required to document the on-site activities and process of implementation of the control techniques at the sites. The role provides opportunities to interact with and learn from the different teams at CEEW and will appeal to those interested in building quantitative research skills. 

Job duties and accountabilities 

Research 

  • Document activities and dust control measures implemented at construction site 
  • Interact with stakeholders from the local government, professionals, and academia in the sector 
  • Carry out relevant literature reviews, and summarize findings as reports.
  • Collect data needed to estimate occupational, economic and environmental impacts of construction activities 
  • Assist the team in putting together concept notes, memos and presentations summarising observations and learning from the construction site. 
  • Work with both the research team and the site supervisors at the construction site to develop practical dust management solutions. 
  • Assist the team in the organisation of relevant capacity building workshops, discussions and launch events (whenever needed)

Selection Criteria 

Qualification 

  • Enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s/Master’s degree in engineering, science, statistics, GIS, or allied fields. 

Key skills 

  • Experience carrying out data analysis on programmes such as Excel, Python, R, STATA is desirable 
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders (industry, academic, government etc.) preferred
