Reporting toCity Project Lead

Location Kochi (1 position)

Duration 6 months, starting February 2022

Job Summary:

CEEW seeks to hire a research intern to assist the mobility team in its ongoing research on electric mobility in India. The job involves supporting the charging infra, depots, parking and route planning, roll-out strategies and pilots for fleet electrification. Additionally, the candidate will be involved in carrying out analyses and communications for feeder bus connectivity and water metros in Kochi; and tempos, urban freight and utility vehicles in close collaboration with the operators and local government. Malayalam speaking and reading skills are highly desirable for the candidate. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out techno-economic analysis, strategies, business cases for electrification of particular fleet
  • Developing connectivity and feeder plans for fleets.
  • Interact with stakeholder from the local government, professionals, academia in the sector.
  • Analysis of vehicles and operations characteristics  
  • Assist the team in generating snackable insights and compelling data visuals for the social media platforms
  • Carry out relevant literature reviews, summarize findings as reports.
  • Impact analysis of EV to understand job creation, skill development, economic and environmental impacts.
  • Assist administrative team for organization of relevant capacity building, discussions and launch events (whenever needed)

Selection Criteria

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with specialisation in urban/regional planning, urban management, transport planning, civil engineering, energy, public policy, economics and related fields
  • Candidates with prior experience in business model and pilots for electric mobility are desirable
  • Interest in the transport and EV sector in India
  • Local language (writing and speaking) proficiency is must (Malayalam for Kochi)

Key Skills

  • Must have strong research skills – capability to carry out literature review is a key requisite, familiarity with research methods is desirable.
  • Familiarity with public policy research techniques and tools is desirable
  • Experience carrying out data analysis on programmes such as Excel, Python, R, STATA are desirable
  • Ability to develop transport pilots, and low emission zone plans is desirable
  • Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Willingness to work on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experience in dealing with stakeholders (industry, academic, government etc.) preferred
