Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a research intern who would work with the Programme Lead, CEEW. CEEW offers an intellectually challenging and conducive work environment, with a focus on research rigour, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual who would be excited to work on a diverse range of subjects and contribute to the dynamic research environment at CEEW. CEEW has an interdisciplinary research culture and its value comes from adopting different methods and connecting dots across seemingly siloed policy and industry verticals.

CEEW under climate negotiations programme intends on improvising domestic arenas towards addressing climate action and cater to the development of subjects under the convention such as Capacity building, transparency, and ambitions gaps. Our research on climate change includes developing assessment tools for capacity building, technical evaluation of greenhouse gas emissions, understanding the capacity gaps for measuring, reporting, and verification of mitigation actions based on the Rulebook, and advising and contributing to climate negotiations. The research intern is being hired to assist the fellow researchers in undertaking programmatic and research activities of this initiative.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

Research

Successful candidate is expected to assist in the following:

  • Contribute to the ongoing research related to phase-II of capacity building tool based on the modalities, procedures and guidelines associated with enhanced transparency framework.
  • Tracking and reporting on relevant developments in the international climate space and undertaking research related to Article 6, enhanced transparency framework, and capacity-building.
  • Develop an overall understanding of MRV practices that are globally adopted by countries
  • Co-author pieces and develop ideas for blogs and other outreach submissions.
  • Actively support the team members to engage with industry stakeholders to communicate and create impact with research findings.
  • Assist team in research, report formulation, and outreach responsibilities

Selection Criteria

Education

  • Master’s degree preferred or bachelor’s with specialisation in economics, energy, climate change, sustainability or related fields
  • Significant interest and knowledge in climate negotiations and international climate policies

Main skills

  • Understanding of the climate negotiations space
  • Superior analytical abilities and effective oral and written communication skills are necessary prerequisites
  • Ability to manage time effectively to handle multiple requests at the same time
  • Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic and fluid environment
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively as a team member
  • Ability to analyse information and present in a clear and accurate manner, both verbal and written
  • Willingness to show initiative in order to handle unforeseen challenges
  • Ability to work in multicultural teams and willingness to solve problems

Compensation
