Designation Offered: Research Intern
Team/Focus area: Risks & Adaptation
Location: New Delhi, India
Reporting to: Programme Associate
Duration: 3 months (extendable based on performance)
Purpose
CEEW seeks to hire a research intern skilled in climate impact and adaptation policy analysis and evaluation to join the Climate Risk & Adaptation team. The candidate will be supporting the team on climate relevant policy evaluation and analysis for the on going projects. The candidate is required to assist the core research team with critical analysis of climate related policies and programmes for various sectors, literature review and data analysis. The ideal candidate must have an educational background in Public Policy studies/Climate Policy, Environmental science or other allied fields and should have working experience with GIS tools, Microsoft office, and other statistical tools. In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities.
Job duties and accountabilities
Primary Responsibilities
Research and analysis
- Support the core research team on climate impacts and adaptation policy analysis and evaluation using public policy evaluation frameworks and methodologies for the team’s work on revamping of the State action plans on climate change.
- Critical writing and giving policy recommendation by evaluating public policies.
- Support the research team for building a climate relevant matrix for policy analysis.
- Supporting the team with carrying out a literature review and research writing about climatological and socio-economic aspects of climate change
Other responsibilities
- Support the team and build individual capacity in carrying out data analysis.
- Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesize and analyze information.
- Assist with program implementation, including help with preparing presentations.
- Assist with planning and executing events such as report launches, consultation workshops, round table discussions, etc.
- Participate constructively in weekly team meetings.
- Provide inputs on research methodology and data analysis tools.
Selection Criteria
Qualification
- Preferably Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy/Climate science and policy environmental science and other allied fields. Candidates pursuing their studies can also apply.
Work experience and requirements
- 0-1 year. Candidates pursuing their Bachelor’s/Master’s can apply.
Key skills
- Ability to analyse and evaluate policies using evaluation frameworks and methodologies
- Proven ability of literature review and research writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other MS office applications
- Good knowledge of statistical tools (Stata,SPSS) and their applications.
- Knowledge of GIS tools is an added advantage.
