Job Summary
CEEW seeks to hire an intern who will assist the Renewable Energy (RE) team in various ongoing projects under the Rooftop Solar program. Some of the prospective projects include assessing the impact of grid integration of distributed renewable energy (DRE) sources on the discom, modelling energy storage applications in the distribution network and developing implementation mechanisms for their deployment.
The Renewable Energy team is one of the seven focus areas at the CEEW. Our work supports India’s - and the world’s - clean energy transition. It does so through timely, research-based interventions based on extensive policy, regulatory, and market analyses. The team also assesses, through surveys, India’s renewable energy jobs potential and skills requirement, the risks facing renewable energy investments, and designing strategic market mechanisms to address the identified risks. In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, intern should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities and respond to events and developments that cannot be anticipated easily.
Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate is expected to assist researchers in the RE team doing the following:
- Undertake rigorous review of methodologies, analysis, and policies pertaining to the grid integration and impact of DRE sources.
- Perform the techno-economic analysis of various DRE sources for different stakeholders like discoms and consumers.
- Review large amounts of data and analyse information using a variety of mathematical tools and interdisciplinary methodologies.
- Report the key findings effectively to the team in written and oral formats.
- Contribute to reports and other research products as part of the research team.
- Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information.
- Assist with programme implementation, including help with preparing presentations, concept notes, and comments to ministries.
Selection Criteria
Education
- Enrolled in or completed Master’s degree in energy science/ power engineering/ renewable energy/ economics/ public policy.
- Keen interest in power sector, electricity markets, finance, regulations, and energy transition is desirable.
- Experience in writing research papers and other strategic communications is a necessary prerequisite.
Skills
- Strong data analysis skills with expertise in Advanced MS Excel, R, Python or other relevant software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to present information in a clear and accurate manner through verbal and written mediums.
- Ability to manage time effectively to handle multiple requests at the same time
- Ability to work in multicultural teams
