Purpose
The Centre for Energy Finance seeks to hire a Research Intern/Consultant with interdisciplinary proficiency spanning clean energy, finance, and public policy. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in market research, literature review, and an understanding of institutional finance. A familiarity with public policy research tools and methodologies is essential. The Intern/Consultant will be expected to take initiatives towards advancing the objectives of the Centre for Energy Finance. CEEW offers an intellectually challenging and conducive work environment, with a focus on research rigor, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join the interdisciplinary CEEW team.
The Council seeks to hire the Research Intern/Consultant to:
- Perform rigorous quantitative and qualitative research.
- Undertake market, policy, and financial analysis to assess the value add or potential value add within the different sectors and sub-sectors.
- Write high quality research pieces – papers, presentations, policy briefs etc.
The successful applicant will be responsible to understand both technical, business, financial and regulatory trends and should be able to successfully capture them in a quantitative and qualitative manner. All information may not be in public domain and the applicant will be expected to reach out to organisations (government and private) and sectoral experts to gauge the reasons behind a specific trend. Such analysis is then expected to be used by policy makers to frame guidelines/policies for government, investors, and industries to take important decisions. The Intern/Consultant’s work is expected to feed into the final outputs of CEEW - CEF which would assist decision makers in public and private sector.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the Intern/Consultant should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities and respond to unanticipated events and developments.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
Research
- Track market developments regularly through both primary and secondary research
- Carry out extensive literature review to support the identification of research questions, approaches, and methodologies for analysing the evolving clean energy market
- Identify market barriers and collaboratively work on financial and policy solutions for stakeholders
- Participate in knowledge-transfer activities, including collaborative meetings and training workshops with other research groups and institutions
- Undertake rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis of market challenges and their impact on the sector understudy
- Review large amounts of data and analyse information using a variety of mathematical tools and interdisciplinary methodologies
Programme Assistance
- Respond to research requests from senior researchers, discuss research needs, and prepare responses that synthesise and analyse information
- Assist with project implementation, including preparing presentations, factsheets and other communication material
- Assist administrative team for organization of relevant events (whenever needed)
- Develop cordial & working relationship with industry stakeholders for timely access to data
- Support efforts to use new media platforms for wide dissemination of CEEW’s work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community
Selection Criteria
Education and Experience
- The ideal candidate should be a master’s degree holder with a background in public policy. Bachelor’s or master’s level degrees in public policy, economics or finance in combination with degrees in engineering, sustainability, energy etc. are desirable.
- Previous internships in related fields would be an advantage.
- 0-2 years of experience in policy think tanks, government fellowships, consultancies, etc. is desirable.
- Prior experience related to the clean energy sector is desired.
- Experience in stakeholder management would be an added advantage.
CEEW operates in a dynamic environment, and the candidate will be required to show flexibility in undertaking a variety of tasks.
Compensation
Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.
