The International Energy Efficiency Hub brings together governments, global agencies, and the private sector on innovations and best practices in energy efficiency. Most G20 countries are part of this hub. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is tasked with managing India’s participation within the hub.International collaboration on this front is important as under its updated NDCs, India has emissions intensity reduction targets to be achieved by 2030.
Notably, the BEE is also in-charge of managing the upcoming Indian Carbon Market, set for a launch in 2026. This points to the BEE’s growing mandate with regards to energy conservation and management. Will the BEE strategically leverage its position in the hub for negotiations with other countries on the proposed Indian Carbon Market?
