Delhi's EV policy expired in December 2023, after a six-month extension. This has led to a slight decline in the share of EV sales, from 12% in FY24 to 10% in FY25 (as of December). Delhi, historically a leader in EV adoption, currently boasts a higher penetration rate than the national average of 6.75% (as of December). The renewal of the policy is crucial to reignite the momentum of EV penetration in the city.
In 2023, the Delhi government announced its Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme, which mandates all cab aggregators and delivery service providers to switch to entirely electric fleets by 2030. Earlier, under FAME-II, Delhi offered complementary incentives to union-level schemes. Given that e-4ws do not have subsidy carveouts under PM E-DRIVE, could the Delhi government bridge the gap to ensure all policies are aligned?
