Hamid Hussain Varikkodan
Programme Associate
Hamid is a Programme Associate with the Risk and Adaptation team at the Council. His work focuses on vulnerability, hazard and risk assessment associated with hydro-met disasters, climate governance and engagements.
Prior to joining the Council, Hamid has worked with the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority where he was actively involved in drafting the District Disaster Management Plan for Malappuram District, Kerala.
Hamid completed his PhD thesis in Disaster Management from the Department of Coastal Disaster Management, Pondicherry University, Andaman Campus. Hamid’s thesis specialised in numerical modelling of storm surges and cyclone risk assessment around Andaman islands. He also holds an MSc in Disaster Management from the Pondicherry University.
Hamid enjoys cycle-riding and has taken part in a number of cycling races and rallies in and around Kerala and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He likes to read fiction and also loves cooking in his free time.
