India could significantly benefit by scaling up green hydrogen use given our ambitious renewable capacity expansion targets and declining tariffs, large domestic markets for mobility and industrial applications, and supply risks associated with imported oil and gas being the major share of the country’s energy mix.
As part of The Council’s research on hydrogen, we are conducting detailed techno-economic evaluation of each end-use application, with a lens on practically achievable cost trajectories and constraints. We are also collaborating with leading academia and industry stakeholders to leverage their deep knowledge pool to identify the potential markets for India, and policies and regulations that can stimulate these markets.
