Consultant

Monami Dutta is a consultant with the Clean Air team at the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water (CEEW). Her work focuses on various aspects of air quality mitigation techniques. She is particularly interested in exploring less-examined and challenging areas of air pollution where meaningful research can be conducted. Driven by a strong desire to create a positive impact on society, she is committed to advancing efforts to combat air pollution.

Before joining CEEW, she earned her Ph.D. from Bose Institute, under the Department of Science and Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal. Her research focused on the long-term trends of air pollutants, state-wise pollution sources in India, and the impact of different aerosol types on cloud properties. Before her Ph.D., she worked as a researcher at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, West Bengal, under an Indo-Norway climate change program. She holds a master's in Atmospheric Science from the University of Calcutta. She is skilled in handling air quality instruments and has experience with GIS and programming languages. She has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributed as a scientific publication reviewer.

In her leisure time, she enjoys nurturing plants, upcycling discarded items into decorative pieces, and listening to retro music. She is also a trained Kathak and Bharatanatyam dancer.
