Nishtha Singh

Programme Associate

Nishtha is a member of the Council's Low-carbon Economy team. Her focus is currently on the carbon markets domain, where she studies the different market instruments present and the significance of their environmental integrity and boundaries. Her work involves analyzing the design features for an effective and successful Emission Trading Scheme in India.

Before joining the Council, Nishtha gained a diverse range of work experiences, including working with governments, NGOs, and private organizations. She worked with the Delhi government on the Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinic project and helped frame Edinburgh city council's net-zero strategy by 2030. Additionally, she is a social entrepreneur who successfully ran a handicraft-based business for over six years. At the start of her career, Nishtha worked as a business analyst for Deloitte Consulting for three years.

Nishtha holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, and a Masters in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh. She also has an undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communication from Delhi College of Engineering. In her free time, Nishtha enjoys exploring India's rich reservoir of traditional art forms, culture, stories, and songs.
