Programme Associate

Karan works as a Programme Associate in The Council’s sustainable food systems team. Through public policy interventions, bottom-up informed data and pilots, ,his research supports the implementation of the Food and Land Use Coalition project on sustainable & regenerative agriculture as well as the action agenda to achieve the 30-30-30 goals set out by the team.

Before joining The Council, Karan worked for the/nudge institute where he designed livelihood programmes to increase the incomes of small and marginal women farmers of Uttar Pradesh via agricultural and livestock interventions. He was promoted within a year of his work there due to his skills of deep research and problem solving. Prior to the/nudge, Karan co-founded “haazri”, a chain of tea kiosks in Mumbai that catered hygienic and affordable tea and snacks to a corporate audience.

Karan has a certification in Public Policy from the Indian School of Public Policy and a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies. His projects during the policy certification focused on pathways to reduce GHG emissions from livestock and paddy cultivation in Uttar Pradesh.

Apart from work, Karan is an avid endurance athlete and has participated in marathons and a triathlon. He occasionally enjoys fulfilling his thrill for adventure through adrenaline high sports like kite-surfing and horse riding.He is always on the lookout for new music and tv.
