
Divyansh Arya
Research Analyst
Divyansh Arya is a Research Analyst in the Low Carbon Economy team at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). His work focuses on the design and evolution of compliance and voluntary carbon markets, Article 6 mechanisms, emerging mitigation pathways and policy instruments.
Before joining The Council, he worked with Ecoveda Climate LLP as part of the AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use) team. He contributed to the implementation of carbon projects in India, Timor-Leste, and Saudi Arabia, focusing on interventions such as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), mangrove restoration, improved cookstoves, and biochar. He has previously interned with the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES), where he conducted carbon stock assessment and socio-ecological research under the International Forestry Resources and Institutions (IFRI) framework.
He holds a Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Governance from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Hyderabad, and spent a semester at Sciences Po, Paris. His master’s dissertation examined the ecosystem valuation of mangroves in Saudi Arabia, analysing their carbon sequestration potential alongside broader ecological services. He also has an undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations from Jadavpur University.
Outside of work, he enjoys taking long walks, reading non-fiction, and is a long-time supporter of FC Barcelona. He also maintains a strong interest in global developments in defence and geopolitics, particularly military modernisation trends and the evolving nature of warfare.
