Gaurav Sahni
Research Analyst
Gaurav Sahni works as an Engagement Lead in the Climate Risks and Adaptation team at The Council. His primary work revolves around coordinating the research work of the team by comprehending it and synthesising it with ongoing efforts. He also assists in developing further partnerships with the Government and other stakeholders. He has a strong inclination toward the development sector and the environment.
Before joining the Council, Gaurav prepared for UPSC CSE to upskill and work for the betterment of the community at large. He has worked with Gram Vikas, based in Odisha, to develop solutions by providing access to a sustainable water supply to villages across the seasons. He has worked in rural, remote, and tribal villages to build capacities of local villagers, where getting a 2G network is also a luxury. During the two years, he worked with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the 1000 springs initiative, Government, and corporate social responsibilities (CSR) projects.
Gaurav has also been a State Bank of India, Youth for India- Fellow during 2017-18, posted with BAIF Development Research Foundation based out at the rural, remote villages of Champawat, Uttarakhand. His interventions were to revive the natural springs by using community centric and community lead sustainable natural solutions.
Gaurave has a Bachelor's in Geography Hons. from University of Delhi, a postgraduate (PG) degree in Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing, and a postgraduate diploma in Sustainable Rural Development. During his PG, he has interned with the Jharkhand Space Application Centre (JSAC) and the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS/ ISRO), for two months and six months, respectively. He lives a sustainable lifestyle, challenges the status quo and strives to learn and up-skill.
