Programme Lead
Harpreet has joined the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) as Programme Lead, Distributed Renewable Energy. With over 13 years in the clean-energy sector, he has worked with government bodies, international agencies, and the private sector to shape policy frameworks, design large-scale solar tenders and guide the implementation of distributed renewables across multiple Indian states.
Prior to joining CEEW, he worked as a Renewable Energy Specialist with USAID’s South Asia Regional Energy Partnership, where he provided technical assistance to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and state governments on distributed solar policy, demand assessment, tender design, and capacity building. Previously at ICLEI South Asia, he supported local governments to integrate renewable energy solutions into their long-term sustainability plans. Under the European Union–India Technical Cooperation Project’s PV Rooftop Cell, he supported state nodal agencies and DISCOMs scale rooftop solar via demand aggregation and regulatory streamlining. He also gained hands-on experience in project execution, regulatory compliance, and business development at Surya International, Mitcon Consultancy and Engineering Services, and N_Arc Consulting.
Harpreet holds a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration (Finance), a PG Diploma in Environmental Law & Policy, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®.
Outside work, he recharges through nature photography, follows the Indian cricket team passionately, and delves into books on sustainability and policy innovation.
