Jhalak is a Programme Associate in the International Cooperation team at The Council. Her research focuses on tracking Paris Agreement negotiations, post-2020 ambitions, and developing indicators, and conducting assessments for the Capacity Building Assessment Matrix (Phase II) based on the modalities, procedures, and guidelines associated with the enhanced transparency framework.
Prior to joining The Council, she worked with Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP-I) for the Government of India’s “Jal Jeevan Mission” to understand the grassroots challenges in the implementation of the scheme in Gujarat. She has also worked with the Development Centre at the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on their annual flagship report “Perspectives on Global Development 2021”, offering evidence-based analysis to underpin development understanding and decision-making in the Global South, especially India.
Further, she worked with Transform Rural India Foundation (TRIF) to support the impact analysis of various initiatives employed in Chhattisgarh under NITI Aayog’s Transformation of Aspirational District Programme. Lastly, before joining the policy space, she worked as a Content Writer with a Delhi-based marketing agency to increase the online presence and engagement of clients across domains.
Jhalak holds a postgraduate degree in Public Policy from Jindal School of Government and Public Policy and an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Delhi. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, CrossFit, and is a big movie buff.
