Research Analyst
Keerthana has joined The Council as a Research Analyst with the Climate Resilience team. Her work aims at using climate hazard data to identify past and future trends in these hazard characteristics, using this analysis to identify the drivers of climatic risk in the country, and eventually help to formulate actionable adaptation strategies for adapting to these drivers.
Prior to joining The Council, Keerthana pursued her Master’s thesis at the Technical University of Dresden as a DAAD Scholar, studying the changing characteristics of the hydro-climatic intensity of the Indian Monsoon in the Central Indian Core Monsoon Zone of India. This research made her realize how the changing wet and dry spell conditions owing to global warming could impact the population and their livelihood negatively.
Keerthana holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from NIT Calicut and a master's degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. Outside of work, Keerthana likes spending the day exploring new spots in the city, preferably with lakes or rivers. She also likes reading books about the experiences of women in today’s world. Her favorite spots are the Thrissur Public Library and rice fields at dawn.
