Mohammed Sahbaz

Research Analyst

Mohammed Sahbaz has recently joined the Council on Energy, Environment, and Water as a Research Analyst in the Clean Air team. His main focus is on air quality modeling and analyzing meteorological data to assist in designing plans to mitigate air quality issues in Indian cities. He holds a Ph.D. from Tezpur University, where he conducted research on atmospheric chemistry and air quality modeling. His work has been published in reputable peer-reviewed journals, and he has presented at several national and international conferences on air pollution and climate change.

Mohammed has a strong background in air pollution research, with a particular interest in modeling and transport of various pollutant species to comprehend source strengths and source regions from diverse local and transboundary pollution. He is skilled in handling a broad range of sophisticated instruments and trajectory analysis with experience in GIS and language programming software.

Before joining the Council, Mohammed worked briefly as an intern-cum-consultant in an environmental solutions company focusing on nature-based solutions. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Zoology from Gauhati University and a Master's degree in Environmental Science from Tezpur University.

In his free time, Mohammed has a great enthusiasm for cultural activities. He is a fine artist and graphic designer who has considered art as a part-time profession. He is also a performer, theatrical artist, and director who has worked on various plays, short films, and albums.
