Dr. Neerav Sharma is joining the Council on Energy, Environment and Water as a Programme Associate in the sustainable mobility team. He formerly served as a Research and Liaison Officer at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, where he contributed to numerous research projects focusing on geospatial applications.
He completed his undergraduate studies at SSIPMT Raipur and his postgraduate degree at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra in Electronics and Communication Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, specializing in IoT, Geomatics, and Transportation Engineering. He further pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Purdue University, USA, focusing on IoT and air quality applications. His research interests include geospatial techniques, remote sensing, AI, IoT, sensor analytics, and embedded systems. With an interdisciplinary skill set and a productive mindset, he has developed a strong passion for policymaking and sustainable research.
In addition to his academic and professional achievements, he is a state-level badminton player and is enthusiastic about sports such as snooker, squash, football, and cricket. He also enjoys PlayStation and computer games in his leisure time and is an ardent fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, rarely missing any of his matches. Through his journey at the Council, Dr. Sharma aims to enhance his research and development skills, acquire new techniques to strengthen his expertise, gain insights into urban mobility, sustainability, and environmental issues, and make significant contributions to the institution.
