With over 30 years of experience in sustainability, Prarthana Borah joins the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) as a Fellow to lead the Clean Air team.An experienced country head, Prarthana was earlier India Director of CDP, a global not-for-profit headquartered in the UK where she led the India program strategy for disclosure and science-based target setting of over 100 Indian corporates and cities. Before that, she led the India Foundation of Clean Air Asia, an international not-for-profit set up by ADB where she developed Clean Air Action Plans, collaborated with the Government of India’s Smart Cities Mission on low-emissions urban development, and worked extensively with state governments to support technology deployment and capacity building for air quality management.

Her work across India,South and Southeast Asia has focused on clean air, climate action, ESG, and environmental policy.

Beginning her journey in environmental education at the Centre for Environment Education, Prarthana has since built and scaled mission-driven initiatives, forged partnerships across government, academia, multilaterals, and industry.

She also identifies as an “EnvironMentor,” and volunteers with Global mentorship networks, supporting emerging sustainability leaders while bridging science, storytelling, and community engagement. Her recent book, “Between River and Sky,” explores resilience and renewal through a visual journey across Majuli, the world’s largest river island.

Outside of work, she enjoys nature travel, rock music, exploring culinary traditions, creating social media content, and unwinding with a good crime thriller.
