Kanika is a Research Analyst in the Sustainable Food Systems team at The Council. Her work focuses on building strategies and pathways to support the transition to sustainable agricultural systems. She contributes to identifying crop diversification opportunities that benefit both farmers and ecosystems and to advancing sustainable rice practices that promote low-carbon, climate-resilient agriculture. 

Prior to joining The Council, she worked as an Executive at the Confederation of Indian Industry. During her tenure, she authored and contributed to several policy documents, spanning white papers, sectoral reports, budget inputs, state vision documents, and consultation notes. She also contributed to a few national-level initiatives, including the NITI Aayog Frontier Tech Hub, the Digital Saksham Initiative for MSMEs, and GST 2.0.

She holds an M.A. in Economics from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. During her Master’s, she interned with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry at the Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) desk. Earlier in her journey, she also spent more than five years tutoring high school students. 

Outside of work, she enjoys playing badminton, sketching illustrations, and DIYing home decor. Inspired by the philosophy of "leaving the world a little better than you found it," she loves upcycling disposable materials into beautiful, functional pieces.
