Poojil Tiwari

Senior Communications Associate

Poojil Tiwari is a Senior Programme Communications Associate at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water, where she leads data storytelling to help charts, maps, and numbers find the right audience and the right medium. Her work spans static and interactive charts, experimental formats, and data visualisation training that helps bring research to diverse audiences.

She is interested in the space between research, expertise, and public understanding of the two, as well as what makes people want to communicate using graphics and numbers. In her five years at The Council, she has produced over 100 charts, several of which have been published by leading media platforms such as The Times of India, Mint, Rajasthan Patrika, the World Economic Forum, and The Hindu. She has also co-authored Local Grids to Global Power, a first-of-its-kind data snapshot of India’s energy transition, told through 20 charts. She is also part of the four-member working group at CEEW driving the India chapter of Women Leading on Climate.

Poojil holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Miranda House, University of Delhi, as well as a master’s in Computational and Data Journalism from Cardiff University. She has spent over a decade learning classical Indian dance, with six years of Bharatanatyam and four years of Odissi training. She is also part of the founding team of VizChitra, India's data visualisation community and conference, which she has been organising since 2025.

She is, by her own admission, happiest with a couple of good books–read alternatively and simultaneously, long walks on precarious footpaths, and uninterrupted hours to enjoy both.

  • What I believe in

You must show loyalty to the hard times. They are always going to come. What you do with them, how you let them shape you and guide you….that’s what ultimately makes you who you are.
