Sabarisha is a Research Consultant with the Climate Resilience team at The Council. Her work focuses on developing Heat Action Plans for the cities, alongside risk transfer approaches such as parametric insurance for heat.

Sabarisha first joined The Council as an intern with the Climate Resilience team and continues with the team as a Research Consultant. Before that, she worked as a project intern at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences on a research project examining how the urban resettlement process itself creates disaster risk, working with wetland dependent communities and resettled households to trace the risks that relocation created rather than mitigated. At RedR India, she carried out market analysis to identify where technical support, capacity building and service deployment were most needed during extreme events across India.

Sabarisha holds a bachelor's degree in Sociology and a master's in Disaster Management from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, specialising in Disaster Policy and Action. The move from sociology into disaster management studying in social sector institution continues to shape how she works, approaching extreme disasters as a question of exposure and protection rather than of the hazard alone.

Besides work, Sabarisha enjoys treks and beaches, but only with her favourite people. Her stress buster is watching 90s and 2000s tamil movies at midnight, and visiting local markets in new cities.
