Sandhya Subramanian

Research Analyst

Sandhya has joined The Council as a Research Analyst with the Low Carbon Economy team. Her work focuses on carbon markets, specifically at the intersection of global trade and carbon pricing regimes. 

Prior to joining The Council, Sandhya worked at Grow Indigo, where she led external policy and government relations in carbon markets and regenerative agriculture. Her professional experience spans climate finance, labour and urban governance, with previous roles at organisations including the Centre for Policy Research (CPR), Sambodhi, the Jana Urban Space Foundation, the Centre for Labour Research and Action and ActionAid.

Sandhya holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Miranda House and a Master’s in Public Policy from NLSIU, Bengaluru. She is also pursuing a Master’s in Design (Ceramics and Glass) from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, where she received the Ford Foundation Graduation Project Grant for her work on design-led solutions addressing the UN SDGs.

Outside of work, Sandhya is a multimedia artist practicing ceramics, printmaking and visible mending. A history and culture buff, she spends her leisure time sketching at monuments or visiting museums and art galleries. She is also passionate about textiles, crafts and artisan livelihoods.
