Vanya Pandey

Research Analyst

Vanya is a Research Analyst with the Power team at the Council on the Just Transitions Programme. Her research focuses on the equity-driven energy transition and mitigating socio-economic impacts through policy interventions in the Indian context. Additionally, she has contributed to the assessment of climate change vulnerability and adaptation at the Council.

Prior to joining the Council, Vanya worked as a Research Associate at IIT Roorkee on the Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) project. Her research topics included climate-smart landscapes, ecosystem services, participatory GIS, and community well-being. She also contributed to the USAID project "City-to-city COVID-19 Vaccination Learning Exchange" (CoVLEx), which aimed to build a global COVID-19 vaccination knowledge management platform and initiate an exchange of ideas and learnings on COVID-19 vaccination among Indian, Southeast Asian, and African cities.

Vanya graduated from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi with a degree in Life Sciences and earned a post-graduate degree in Environmental Sciences. As part of her dissertation work, she explored the impact of climate change on Central Himalayan glaciers using a geospatial approach. An aesthete at heart, Vanya firmly believes that everything in life is an art. In her free time, she can be found reading, dancing, and practicing yoga.
