Vanya Pandey

Research Analyst

Vanya is a Research Analyst with the Climate Resilience team at The Council. Her research focuses on assessing the risks associated with extreme climate events and building tools to evaluate adaptation capabilities and increase resilience. She brings together science, policy, and practice to mainstream climate action.

Prior to joining The Council, Vanya worked as a Research Associate at IIT Roorkee on the Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) project. Her research topics included climate-smart landscapes, ecosystem services, participatory GIS, and community well-being. She also contributed to the USAID project ‘City-to-city COVID-19 Vaccination Learning Exchange’ (CoVLEx), which aimed to build a global COVID-19 vaccination knowledge management platform and initiate an exchange of ideas and learnings on COVID-19 vaccination among Indian, Southeast Asian, and African cities.

Vanya holds an undergraduate degree in Life Sciences from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi and a postgraduate degree in Environmental Sciences. As part of her dissertation work, she explored the impact of climate change on Central Himalayan glaciers using a geospatial approach. An aesthete at heart, Vanya firmly believes that everything in life is an art. In her free time, she can be found reading, dancing, and practicing yoga.
