Bhawna Tyagi

Programme Lead

Bhawna is a member of The Council’s Renewable Energy team and works out of the Delhi office. She is responsible for the solar rooftop initiatives at The Council, primarily focusing on adopting rooftop solar, understanding consumer perception towards rooftop solar, creating consumer awareness, and undertaking techno-economic feasibility assessment of rooftop solar deployment. 

Before joining The Council, she worked as a Senior Research Associate with Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE). She primarily focused on energy efficiency measures, clean mobility solutions, including e-mobility, leading the GVR initiative, reviewing energy policies, and end-use data challenges. Earlier, she worked as Senior Officer (Economist) with Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) Ltd. contributing to various infrastructure verticals, especially energy. Before joining IL&FS, she worked as Research Associate with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, focusing on resource efficiency, trade, natural resources management, and socio-economic impact assessment.

Bhawna holds a post-graduate degree in Economics from Ambedkar University, Delhi, and a graduate degree in Economics (Hons) from the University of Delhi. She is trained in Gravity modeling, CGE modeling, Randomised Controlled Trials (RCTs), and Systematic Reviews and Evidence Summaries. She has experience in primary surveys and multi-stakeholder approaches to research, including working with local communities, the private sector, and government officials at all levels, including the district and block levels. 

In her spare time, she loves to trek and go cycling. She believes that it helps her to appreciate nature and provides uninterrupted time to reconnect with herself. She also loves to paint and wants to master the art of painting ‘Northern Lights’.
