Gunjan Jhunjhunwala

Programme Lead

Gunjan works as the Program Lead in the Renewables team at The Council. Her focus is on defining the contours of the equity-driven energy transition in the Indian context, especially in relation to the political economy and policy landscape of the country as well as in response to global conversations.

Gunjan specialises in issues of public sector governance, especially in system preparedness and capacity building, community engagement and gender - all critical to the issues of a just transition. She reads ‘just transition’ as essentially a socio-economic concept, and her engagement with the concept spans over a decade both academically and professionally.

A trained qualitative researcher, Gunjan has also worked with a range of stakeholders including government bodies and funding organisations such as the McArthur Foundation, the World Bank Group and the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office.

Gunjan holds a BA degree from the Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi and an MA in Political Science from the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). She also has an MPhil from JNU, where her thesis focused on the currency of socio-economic rights in India.
