Karthik Shetty

Consultant

Karthik is a Consultant at The Council in the Industrial Sustainability team. His passion for sustainability stems from witnessing coastal erosion and altering flora and fauna in his hometown of Mangalore.

Karthik has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from RV College of Engineering in Bangalore and a master's degree in Energy Science, Technology and Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh. He worked on various academic projects in energy and policy, such as energy and economic modelling of a thorium power plant, evaluating climate change risk, and adaptation for power plants.

Further, he is also a LEED BD+C (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, for building design and construction) accredited professional. Karthik’s previous experience in the industry includes Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers, John Deere and Cardolite Specialty Chemicals. He has experience in the areas of captive power plants, sheet metal parts manufacturing (order fulfilment and product development), and operations management in the utilities area from these opportunities, respectively.

Besides work, he likes to collect succulents, participate in quiz competitions, read a wide range of books, take long hiking trips, especially in the monsoon.
