What will Drive India's Four Energy Transitions?

September 2020 | Technology, Finance & Trade

In this lecture delivered at NTPC School of Business, Dr Arunabha Ghosh discusses the current energy scenario and its transition into the future. The four energy transitions discussed include traditional to modern, rural to urban, deeper integration into global energy markets and growth to sustainable growth. Further, it examines the next steps towards ending energy poverty, the potential of using clean energy-powered rural livelihood solutions, the future of sustainable mobility, India's renewable energy journey, the country's role in the global energy markets.

The world needs new — and sustainable — drivers of economic growth. In the middle of an economic downswing, environmental standards risk getting diluted or clean tech industries shift down the list of priorities. It is imperative to sustain sustainability in the time of a slowdown.
