Soorya works as a Research Analyst with the Sustainable Water team at The Council. Her work focuses on exploring climate-resilient pathways for agriculture and the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector.
Soorya has completed her B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Government Engineering College Kozhikode, Kerala, and her M.Tech in Environmental Engineering and Management from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, West Bengal. She is the co-author of a review paper titled "Crystalline porous frameworks: Advances in synthesis, mechanisms, modifications, and remediation of organic pollutants," published in the journal Separation and Purification Technology.
Soorya has interned at the Consortium for DEWATS Dissemination Society (CDD India), where she collaborated with a team to devise a strategic action plan to enhance solid waste management in Kochi, in cooperation with Suchitwa Mission Kerala. Additionally, she gained an in-depth understanding of the DEWATS (Decentralised Wastewater Treatment System) approach through hands-on learning and practical experience and realised the importance of nature-based solutions in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainability.
In her free time, Soorya enjoys drawing and cooking. She also likes trying different food items.
