Women Leading on Climate

The India Chapter of Women Leading on Climate (WLOC) — a global coalition founded by Catherine McKenna (CEO, Climate and Nature Solutions; former Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Canada) together with María Mendiluce (CEO, We Mean Business Coalition) — is developed and convened by CEEW. It works to elevate women's leadership in climate action across India and the Global South, by amplifying voices, showcasing solutions, and strengthening leadership pathways.

Our Focus

India is emerging as a leading voice for the Global South on climate, guided by its own vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. Across the country, women are already driving climate action — in research, policy, government, industry, and grassroots communities — but this work is often fragmented and event-based. WLOC India is built to be that anchor.

What we do

Convening

Bringing together organisations and individuals working at the intersection of women and climate.

We create spaces for women-led organisations, practitioners and other stakeholders to connect, exchange knowledge and build a stronger collective voice on gender and climate.

Capacity building

Strengthening women’s leadership in climate action and embedding gender within organisations.

We’re looking to support organisations to build their capacity to lead on climate while integrating gender-driven indicators into their work, systems and decision-making.

Communications

Building broad-based support for women’s leadership in climate.

We use strategic communications to amplify women’s voices, build public understanding and strengthen support for women as leaders in India’s climate transition.
