Amit Passi

Consultant

Amit Passi is a Consultant in the Clean Air Team at The Council, where he oversees the technical execution of the project. He works on developing district-level clean air action plans, air quality assessment of non-attainment and hotspot cities, investigating best practices to develop mitigation strategies, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement.

Amit completed an integrated M.S. + Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. He received his B. Tech from Punjabi University, Patiala. He also worked as a post-doctoral fellow for one year at IIT Madras, involved in National Clean Air Program (NCAP) projects, exposure assessment of unorganized sectors, and performance evaluation of Indoor and Ambient air purifiers and dust collectors developed in Air Research Laboratory, IIT Madras.

Amit's research has been published in academic journals including Building and Environment, Energy for Sustainable Development, Atmospheric Pollution Research, Air Quality, Atmosphere and Health, and WIT Transaction on Ecology and the Environment. He was honored as a Young Champion of Indoor Environment at the second Asian Conference on Indoor Environmental Quality. He was also recognized as a fellow of the Wessex Institute of Great Britain in recognition of outstanding research work.

He enjoys meditation, pranayama, and yoga. He loves cooking, traveling to different places, and nature walks.
